What Is Heart Rate Variability & What Can It Tell You?
Higher HRV can be a sign that your body adapts well to changes in your environment and different levels of stress. Higher HRV measurements are also expected to occur when your heart rate is increased during physical activities like running. However, higher HRV can also be a sign of certain medical conditions, such as atrial fibrillation (AFib, an abnormal heart rhythm).5
On the flip side, if you are chronically stressed or dealing with depression, your HRV might be lower. A low HRV can also point to a higher risk of cardiac issues such as heart attack, congestive heart failure (heart doesn’t pump efficiently enough), or coronary heart disease (arteries cannot deliver enough oxygen-rich blood to the heart).
Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
Heart rate variability is where the amount of time between your heartbeats fluctuates slightly. Even though these fluctuations are undetectable except with specialized devices, they can still indicate current or future health problems, including heart conditions and mental health issues like anxiety and depression.

HEART RATE VARIABILITY (HRV): EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Your general health and wellbeing have a strong influence on your lifespan, happiness, and quality of life. Keeping track of your heart rate variability metrics can provide surprising insights, such as tracking your fitness levels or understanding how outside factors could be having a negative impact.
For example, poor nutrition, insufficient sleep, illness, or an increase in stress could all cause your HRV numbers to lower. By monitoring this metric, you can make adjustments as needed to address these issues so that your health does not begin to decline.

Story

Holly Loughlin
When I first heard about the HRV a year ago, I thought, “Yeah, right. This thingy is going to take my pulse and tell me my fortune. What a load of hooey!”
But, then I had it done for the first time and I was looking at an objective readout of what I had been experiencing and feeling.
It showed me WHY I was so tired and WHAT parts of me were working so hard. And it showed us WHERE to start working on! When I came back and had it done again last month I was able to see the progress I had made following my protocol, WHICH parts of my body were doing better and WHERE we needed to continue working.
It was very encouraging to have my experience validated and to help me understand what I was experiencing. It’s also very affirming to see that we are on the right track and that, even though I don’t always feel like it, I am OBJECTIVELY making progress!
